Nicky Wire by Kevin Cummins, February 3rd 2012

Amuti Editions are pleased to confirm that the first 26 lettered copies of ‘Sometimes the Sky’s Too Bright’ will be signed by James, Nicky and Sean.

In addition to Kevin Cummins’ fantastic collection of images, the book will feature contributions from James Dean Bradfield and Port Talbot’s own Michael Sheen (star of ‘Frost/Nixon’, ‘The Damned United’, ‘The Queen’).

Both the lettered and numbered editions are available now through our online store.

2011 & Beyond

So it has been a good first year for Amuti Editions. Not only have we secured two exciting titles by photography legend Kevin Cummins for release next year, but we have also managed to add the world’s leading urban visionary Rem Koolhaas to our list and, against all odds and common sense, conceive and produce a stunning box set in less than two weeks which we launched at The Barbican.

Central to our aim for Amuti Editions is to form a select group of people we can work with to deliver the most desirable, interesting and classic books that we can. We believe that with ‘Five Cities’ by Rem Koolhaas already available, and ‘Sometimes the Sky’s Too Bright’ and ‘25 12 77’ being pre-ordered now for next year that we are already well on course to do so.

Around each of our publications we aim to present an event worthy of the publication itself. So please look out for another Rem Koolhaas event early next year, the release of ‘Sometimes the Sky’s Too Bright’ in February, and a no holds barred launch of Cummins’ stunning book of Sex Pistols photographs- slap bang in the middle of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee…

We all hope you have a great Christmas and a happy New Year, and look forward to welcoming you to one of our events in 2012.

REM KOOLHAAS – five cities – LIMITED EDITION BOXSET AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER

‘Five Cities’ by Rem Koolhaas

Amuti Editions proudly presents a new limited edition boxed set of essays by one of the world’s leading architectural thinkers. As founding partner of the fabled Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), Harvard professor and winner of the Venice Biennale Golden Lion for lifetime achievement Rem Koolhaas has done more than anyone to shape our ideas about modern urban design and development.

In keeping with the polymath ethos of OMA, the five pieces in this collection range beyond conventional limits to encompass architecture, city planning, cultural criticism, memoir, and the essay as an exercise in literary form. Presented as five separate booklets, the ‘Five Cities’ boxed set is intended to be read in any order, in the manner of BS Johnson’s classic ‘The Unfortunates’, reflecting the process of memory, and the patterns of urban growth.

Combining the raw purity of the samizdat aesthetic with crisp graphic design, ‘Five Cities’ is available from Amuti Editions as a limited edition of just one hundred signed copies including a set of five prints from the famous OMA archive (£50), along with a trade edition of nine hundred copies (£20) sold through the Barbican Art Gallery as part of the current exhibition OMA/Progress. The boxed set will be launched on 10 November at Rem Koolhaas’ ‘On Progress’ talk at the Barbican, and both versions are available for pre-order here on our website.
